5 Tips for How to Dress Classy & Modest in Summer

Ladies,
Summertime requires fashion foresight for the woman who wants to look classy while staying cool. We are surrounded by options so be sure to gravitate toward the best ones and learn how to navigate away from styles that compromise your dignity.
Battle of the Bra Straps
Thin straps on tops and dresses can be pretty but have plagued us with the consequence of displayed bra straps. The classiest women photographed never show bra straps.

Fully Hide a Bra
It became one of the most important aspects to my wardrobe to buy or make clothing that fully covers a bra. My main solution is to only wear wide cut sleeveless clothing, where the armholes are very close to my actual arm and not cut back from it, which can easily show a bra. As I recently read on a rather expensive clothing website, they suggested wearing a strapless bra with the dress for sale. I appreciated their willingness to suggest this because many women do wear a regular bra with thin strapped garments. But we see that thin straps look good on the model because there are no bra straps showing.

Wear Sleeves in Summer
Many people think as soon as hot weather hits they have to wear sleeveless to feel cooler. But many sleeves are perfect for hot weather. A cap sleeve is so short it is nearly a sleeveless piece of clothing. It just rounds over the shoulder to fully hide a bra.

Any kind of floaty fabric that allows air to pass through it or around it works for summertime. Any sleeve that is loose around the arm is especially good for hot weather.

Longer Lengths
We assume hot weather means shorts. But shorts are one of the worst for comfort, keeping cool and even for looking your best. Many women would never even wear skirts or dresses as short as shorts. If the short is flowy, it can show your crotch area with movement. If the short is tight, it is sweaty and needs constant wedgie picking….not exactly elegant. It might be counterintuitive, but longer lengths of fabric like flowy skirts and dresses are more cooling. You get a breeze all day down there and can move freely without any of the issues of tight short clothes.

Wear Prints
Very few of my clothes are solid colors because solid colors not only show every scuff mark, splashed food and drink, paw prints, etc. but solid colored clothing shows sweat marks. One of the best defenses you have against looking like a splotchy sweaty mess in the summertime is to wear beautiful, printed fabric. Florals, geometrics, small prints, large prints, there are so many to choose from, why would we only wear solids anyway? There is a print for you.

Fitted not Tight
This is another important aspect to looking well-dressed, but it is especially more comfortable in hot weather. Tight clothing is evidenced by a bust bursting up through the neckline or straining at buttons or fabric in the bustline. If the outline of your belly button is visible through your clothing, your clothing is too tight. Fitted does not mean tight, it means that your seams hit you in the correct places on your body and not one part of your body is putting a high amount of pressure against the fabric anywhere. Many dresses can have a rather fitted look but still be rather flowy.
Happy Summer Styling!
