Non-dramatic Bathroom Makeover : Making it Beautiful without the Renovation
You transform a room by the little things you do too… Ladies, I love a dramatic before and after makeover. But in our world of attention-grabbing headlines and impressive home overhauls we have lost a lesson of utmost value. A makeover is not just an extreme change. Many times, transformative makeovers are the little things that you do to make a room feel inviting, clean, comfortable and beautiful. Homemaking means making it better right now! It would be easy to feel discouraged enough to not make a room better because it will not live up to a grand change. We can get caught up in what it could be instead…

Better Homemaking & Happy Homemaker : Make the Bed
Homemaking is as Simple as Making the Bed Ladies, homemaking does not consist of overwhelming tasks that are impossible to figure out or get better at! It is actually quite simple. As simple as making the bed. Homemaking Creates Order & Beauty Look around you. You can make your home as lovely as you want. That enthusiasm and joy of “playing house” we had as little girls is what makes doing something like making the bed different than a demand that merely taxes you. You have an opportunity in this simple and quick task to direct your home into order and beauty. This is what homemaking does! It is often…

The Best Food Waste Perspective : Christian Homemaking
Stop Kicking Yourself for “Wasting food” Instead Praise God for His Abundance! We are pretty good at beating ourselves up as women. I once heard a pastor joke that his wife’s spiritual gift was guilt. Haha! Well, that is certainly true for me every time I scrape food into the trash. That is the worst feeling. But thanks to God I had a change of perspective on this. Romans 12:2 says “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” I…

Cheerful French Blue Kitchen Makeover : Paint Before & After
Welcome to my kitchen! My rental house kitchen was trying to be a cheerful, what I call “French blue” kitchen but the dusty grey blue paint color was holding it hostage from its goal! Even though the South facing kitchen has airy daylight pouring into it, the sleepy grey toned blue still looked tired. It wanted to be awake and happy in that beautiful light. I was working with a tight budget so I bought Glidden interior paint + primer in the color “Sonata”. One gallon was $23 plus change and since the walls were already blue, it only took one generous coat of paint to look opaque. The room…

How to have Resolve in Homemaking : Have a Mind for the Work!
There are so many things to say about how to be a better homemaker. There are practical steps to improving your approach but first, our resolve to do the work comes from unwavering truth from God’s Word. I had been slogging away at painting over the bright pink room in our new rental house recently. There was nothing enjoyable about this work. It just had to be done even though I truly dislike painting. But I was encouraged by this passage in Nehemiah and I am passing it on to you for your fortification in homemaking work. It was a time when they had experienced a lot of discouragement in…

Fall Fashion Country Woman Edition : Shop & Dress like Us
Welcome to my little stylish corner of the countryside. The tractor supply clothing section does not exactly make me feel like a stylish woman. There is zero snazzy shopping experience to it and yet, I feel so much more comfortable there than any other retail store. I want to smell hay and kibble while I shop for my clothes. And I want to hear adorable peeping chicks, not top 40 blaring. On one of my excursions, I found these leggings. They have deep pockets with invisible zippers. Hefty fabric. Stretchy. Doesn’t show crack when you bend down. These are the things country women need. These are the things ANY women…

Classic Fall Fashion for Home & Garden : Plaid Wool Skirt, Leggings & Boots
The home and garden are workplaces as much as places of rest. So our wardrobe must be for our work at home, which means looking as put together as feeling comfortable! Every fall I would receive a Lands End catalog in the mailbox and page through every look over and over analyzing my favorite pieces. The classic lines and sturdy fabrics made the approaching Autumn feel even more Autumnal. I deliberated over all of the coats, cardigans and plaid skirts finally circling the few for which I would place an order. Catalogs are a thing of the past now, replaced with scrolling and online ordering complete with delightfully fast shipping.…

Traditional Feminine Fashion : Homemaking Outfit in the Countryside
Hi ladies, I am writing to you from my wistful Autumnal mood. For clothing, I have been loving a specific color of red. A deep wine red. If I had a cardigan in the same color as this dress it would look beautiful for winter time. My navy sweater is hanging on for dear life since I wear it with everything but I am unable to invest in clothing at the moment. My boots are nearly worn through but I am still blessed to have them work. I love the height and shape and color of this pair. When I can afford a new pair this is my template for…

Housewives are Working Women
This article is written from a Biblical Christian perspective to encourage other Christian wives. Did you know that you are a “working woman” when you become a wife? Were you ever told about the job of running a home? Do you know it’s ok to earn money but that is not what qualifies you as a “working woman”? All I ever wanted was to be a wife running my own home, but I knew to never admit this was my primary ambition. No one was ever presenting this to me as an option. I was prodded toward the workforce with great intensity and never a word mentioned about being a…
